Penn looks to build upon last season’s success, which saw the Quakers finish 22-9, runners-up in the Ivy League Tournament, and champions of the Big 5.
The reigning Ivy League champions return four starters from last year’s squad, which finished 24-9 overall and 12-2 in regular-season conference play.
The Penn alumnus is entering his fifth season on the men’s basketball staff, and has been on the bench with Head Coach Steve Donahue for a total of 12 years.
Tickets to the Scrimmage will be free to the general public starting Tuesday, Sept. 18, via 76ers social media platforms.
The former basketball standout was selected by the Ivy League for her work on and off the court.
Building upon a successful 2017-18 campaign, the Quakers will travel to Europe in August.
Alyssa Baron, the second-leading scorer in Penn women’s basketball history with 1,806 points, starred for the Quakers from 2010-11 to 2013-14.
The trip provided the Quakers with on-court development, cultural experiences, and team bonding.
Tony Hicks, a guard for the Quakers from 2012-15, was voted British Basketball League Player of the Month for February and March.
The Quakers made it all the way to the Final Four in 1979, where they faced a Michigan State team led by someone named Earvin “Magic” Johnson.
Kenneth Shropshire of the Wharton School says that women’s college basketball needs to cultivate more superstars and superstar matchups like Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese to keep investors bought in and fans engaged.
